Draft. This page is awaiting legal review and may change before the game launches.
Hex Happens has an online account so that your progress and purchases are safe and follow you between devices. It collects as little as it can.
What we store on our server:
- Your Game Center identifiers. They're used only to sign you in, and are never shown to anyone.
- Your Game Center display name, which is shown in the game.
- A random player ID that we create.
- Your game progress: Ember balance and history, upgrades, heroes, run results and statistics.
- Your purchases: the transaction records Apple sends us. We never see your payment details.
- App Attest data, used to check that requests come from a genuine copy of the game.
We don't collect your email address or real name, and there are no ads or tracking.
Who handles it: our server runs on Cloudflare. Apple handles sign-in and payment.
Playing as a guest: if you don't sign in with Game Center, nothing is stored on our server, and your progress stays on your device.
Local co-op connects two devices directly over your Wi-Fi. iOS asks permission first ("Hex Happens uses your local network to play co-op with a friend nearby"). Only gameplay data passes between the phones. Your device name is shown to nearby players so they can pick your game.
Diagnostics stay on your device. Errors are written to a local log file (logs/hexhappens.log). It's never uploaded automatically. You can choose to share it if you report a problem.
Deleting your account: go to Settings, then Account, then Delete account. This removes your identifiers, name and progress straight away, including any Ember you've bought. We keep anonymous purchase and ledger records for financial reasons.
